On March 29, 2011, H.E. Mr. Gu Xiaojie, Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia handed over 200,000 RMB (Equivalent to half a million Birr) worth of office equipments and musical instruments, donated by the Ministry of Culture of China to H.E. Mr. Amin Abdulkadir, Minister of Culture and Tourism of Ethiopia.

Ambassador Gu said, the two countries' all around partnership was deepened with fruitful cultural exchanges in recent years, this donation is not only to express Chinese side's gratitude to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Ethiopia for its all along support, but also to help the Ministry to promote its cultural activities. China is also willing to further enhancing the cultural cooperation with Ethiopia, to promote the two countries' friendship.

While receiving the donation, Mr. Amin expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Culture of China, and added that this donation would support the capacity of his Ministry in raising its technical proficiency as well as promoting the cultural cooperation with China.

During the handing over ceremony, a renowned artists from Ethiopian National Theater played both Chinese and Ethiopian songs with donated clarinet.
