On April 17, Ambassador Chen Hai of the Chinese Embassy in Ethiopia met with Minister Alemu of the Ethiopian Ministry of Transport and Logistics. Minister-Counsellor Liu Xiaoguang and others were present at the meeting.

Ambassador Chen pointed out that the world is currently beset by turmoil and disorder. Some countries, in disregard of the widespread opposition of the international community, have openly declared their intention to impose so-called "reciprocal tariffs". This is purely going against the tide and will ultimately only harm themselves. As all-weather strategic partners, China is willing to share the broad opportunities of Chinese-style modernization with Ethiopia and jointly carry out more extensive and in-depth cooperation to inject certainty and enhance stability into global common development. Minister Alemu agreed with Ambassador Chen's views and expressed concern over unilateralism and protectionist practices.

Both sides highly appraised the achievements of China-Ethiopia cooperation in transportation infrastructure, and agreed to jointly strive for the sustainable operation of projects such as the Ethio-Djibouti Railway, and promote the integrated development of infrastructure and industries through cooperation on projects like the new airport in the capital.

Alemu introduced Ethiopia's policies and measures to encourage the development of electric vehicles and expressed welcome for more Chinese enterprises in the upstream and downstream of the electric vehicle industry to enter the Ethiopian market.

Ambassador Chen introduced China's achievements in practicing the concept of green development and promoting the high-quality development of the new energy vehicle industry. He stated that China is willing to strengthen strategic alignment with Ethiopia, encourage capable and reputable new energy vehicle enterprises to enter the Ethiopian market, and achieve win-win cooperation.
