Ambassador Chen Hai visited Jimma City in Oromia Region

On April 4th, Ambassador Chen Hai of the Embassy of China in Ethiopia visited Jimma City in Oromia State, accompanied by Counsellor Liu Xiaoguang and others.

Ambassador Chen briefed the Governor of Jimma Region, Tijani, and the Mayor of Jimma City, Taha, on the spirit of the Two Sessions. He said that Jimma is an important transportation hub and trade transfer station in the southwest of Ethiopia. Prime Minister Abiy has proposed the vision of transforming Jimma into an international city. China attaches great importance to the relevant vision and planning, and is willing to deepen practical cooperation with Jimma, promote projects in areas such as agricultural product processing, industrial zones and infrastructure, strengthen Chinese language education and cultural and technological exchanges, promote the implementation of multi-field cooperation between the two sides, and contribute to the economic and social development of the local area.

Tijani and others congratulated China on the conclusion of the Two Sessions, stating that Jimma has obvious geographical advantages, a solid agricultural foundation, and is actively developing industry and tourism. It also has Jimma University, the second largest in Ethiopia. The prospects for cooperation with China are broad. Chinese enterprises have been deeply involved in Jimma for many years, making significant contributions to the local economic and social development. China is Ethiopia's most important friend and partner. They hope that more Chinese enterprises will come to invest and start businesses in Jimma. Ethiopia will also explore and promote cooperation with China in areas such as culture and tourism.
