On May 30, Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia H.E. Mr. Chen Hai visited Afar Regional State and met with Afar President H.E. Mr. Awol Arba. Minister-Counselor Liu Xiaoguang, Director Fan Yong and other Embassy staff attended the meeting.
Ambassador Chen said that President Xi Jinping proposed the Ten Partnership Actions for China-Africa Cooperation at the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, advocating that China and Africa should jointly embark on the road of modernization. The Chinese Embassy will work with all sectors of Ethiopia to earnestly implement the spirit of the Beijing Summit and the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, and encourage and support more Chinese institutions and enterprises to share China's development experience and deepen practical cooperation. Afar Regional State has vast land, and rich natural and cultural resources. China is willing to strengthen exchanges with all sectors of the local community and carry out in-depth cooperation in mining, agriculture, tourism and other fields.
President Awol said that Afar Regional State is willing to deepen local exchanges and cooperation with China, hopes that China will actively participate in the state's infrastructure construction, and encourage more Chinese companies to invest and start businesses in Afar.
Ambassador Chen visited the teachers and students of Sholokko School and encouraged them to study hard and make more contributions to the China-Ethiopia friendship. The accompanying China Foundation for Rural Development donated food packages, sports bags and other supplies to the school.
Ambassador Chen also visited and investigated local Chinese-funded enterprise projects such as Tanam Chemical, and extended Dragon Boat Festival greetings to the employees of the companies.
Afar Regional State is located in the northeastern part of Ethiopia. It has unique natural scenery and rich resources. In recent years, its cooperation with China has been deepening.
