On July 18, the Chinese Embassy in Ethiopia and the Chinese Mission to the African Union co-hosted a reception celebrating the 98th anniversary of the founding of the People's Liberation Army (PLA). Attendees included Chinese diplomats, military representatives, Ethiopian Defense Force officials, former Ethiopian leaders, African Union officials, foreign envoys, and representatives from Chinese organizations. Nearly 700 guests attended the event. 

The reception highlighted the PLA's transformative modernization efforts, its historic contributions to China's liberation and global anti-fascist victories, and its role in safeguarding regional and world peace. 

Guests praised China's military achievements and peacekeeping commitments, viewed themed photo exhibitions, and expressed wishes for strengthened China-Ethiopia and China-Africa cooperation.
