The Embassy of China in Ethiopia inspected the Ethio-Djibouti Railway and the eastern region of Ethiopia

At the beginning of the new year, Ambassador Chen Hai led the embassy team to visit and exchange views at the Addis Ababa-Djibouti Railway and the eastern region of Ethiopia. The heads of the Ethiopia-China Chamber of Commerce and other institutions accompanied the visit. 

The Addis Ababa-Djibouti Railway is a flagship project of the Belt and Road Initiative jointly built by China and Ethiopia, and it is also a major artery for transportation and logistics in East Africa. The project is 756 kilometers long and was constructed by China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation and China Railway No. 2 Engineering Group. Ambassador Chen Hai, accompanied by the project's Chinese director, inspected key locomotive and rolling stock depots and further discussed the sustainable development of the Addis Ababa-Djibouti Railway with everyone on the train.

During the visit, Ambassador Chen and his delegation also visited the World Heritage Site of the ancient city of Harar and discussed with local industry professionals on promoting cultural and tourism cooperation between the two countries.
