Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia Chen Hai recently met former Ethiopian President Mulatu and former Speaker Abadula, accompanied by Defense Attaché Liu Zhaofeng.

Ambassador Chen highlighted progress in China-Ethiopia cooperation following the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Beijing Summit. He noted the 80th anniversary of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War victory, with commemorations scheduled in Beijing on September 3 and a seminar in Addis Ababa co-hosted by the embassy and Ethiopian representatives. Both nations, with shared histories of resisting foreign aggression and contributing to WWII, pledged to uphold the post-war international order, strengthen Global South solidarity, and build a shared future for China, Ethiopia, and Africa.

Mulatu and Abadula congratulated China on the anniversary and praised ongoing cooperation under the Beijing Summit outcomes. They reaffirmed Ethiopia's commitment to advancing the China-Ethiopia all-weather strategic partnership, promoting global justice, and enhancing bilateral ties for mutual benefit.
