On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the People's Republic of China and the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, I wish to extend on behalf of the Government and people of China the warmest congratulations and best wishes, to you, and through you, to the Government and people of Ethiopia.
Over the past 40 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Ethiopia, the bilateral relationship has withstood the tests of changes of both international and domestic situations and developed in a sound and profound manner. In the new century, the two sides set up the all-around cooperative partnership on the basis of equality and mutual trust, which has resulted in expanding bilateral trade, reciprocal investment and fruitful cooperation in the fields of culture, education and health. Both sides support each other and maintain close coordination in international and regional affairs, and the cooperation between the two sides under the framework of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) could serve as a model for South-South Cooperation. The Chinese side appreciates and thanks the Ethiopian Government for its firm commitment to One-China principle and for its precious support on issues concerning the core interests of China. Looking to the future, China is willing to further deepen the traditional friendship, enhance the all-around exchanges and cooperation, and jointly promote the Sino-Ethiopia all-round cooperative partnership and the new type of strategic partnership between China and Africa to further develop in a smooth and rapid way.
