China's investment flow to Ethiopia said growing

Addis Ababa, 22 November (WIC) – Economic Adviser to the Prime Minister and Director of the Ethiopia Development Research Institute (EDRI), Dr. Neway Gebre-Ab, said that China's investment flow to Ethiopia has been increasing from time to time.

Dr. Neway said that China's foreign direct investment in Ethiopia, particularly in manufacturing sector, has witnessed a significant increase in the past few years.

Dr. Neway was speaking here today at the opening of a seminar on China-Ethiopia and China–Africa Relations in a Mutually Beneficial and Win-Win Manner organized by the Embassy of China in Ethiopia in collaboration with the Ethiopian International Institute for Peace and Development (EIIPD).

He said China's assistance in the form of concessional loans and aid has contributed its share for the successive economic growth registered in Ethiopia over the past years.

Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia, Gu Xiaojie, on his part said the diplomatic relations between China and Ethiopia have been growing rapidly and smoothly, with mutual understanding and political trust.

He added that the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) has been growing in a robust, sustainable and more beneficial manner since the past ten years.

Participants drawn from EIIPD, Chinese Embassy and various governmental institutions took part at the day-long seminar.
